I am considering taking the audi dash mounted phone holder out of my 57 plate A4. I have found an auto electrician and a leather care guy who specialises in repairs and it is gonna cost me about £80 all in.
as another option I looked at the iPhone 5 adapter that sits on this holder which Is £110 from Audi and when I was speaking to audi they reckon I could devalue my car by taking the dash mounted holder out

whats anyone's thoughts on this? I think it's bloody ugly and would prefer it without but I may want to sell the car on

Depending on where its mounted (give us a pic?) it may leave a hole in the dashboard.

Yes it is ugly but wired into the rnse and there is the large oblong hole in the console surround. In a moment of madness I spent 20 quid on ebay for the phone the holder was designed for, but does not work as well as Bluetooth so is a glovebox waste of space.
Check the mounting, gently wobble the holder away from you and you will see the size of the hole to repair, it may crystallise thoughts to buy the iphone holder.

Obviously it saves the cig lighter wire, but does it work better than Bluetooth?

It works via Bluetooth and charges phone whilst in cradle.

Removing the OEM cradle would definitely leave holes in the side of the console. My car was fitted with this monstrosity at the factory, and when I bought it used, I managed to persuade the supplying dealer to remove it and replace the console as well.
