Short question : Where does this attached black plastic bit come from, please ?

The full monty: I replaced my window regulator and there are 2 "plastic rivets" that stablise the passenger door lock mechanism to the metal regulator frame. I dunno if these plastic rivets are "once only use intended " but I lost one and the other seemed lose - so I used the attached (see picture) instead which worked a treat.

I cannot remember what part the attached came from, is it a push fit to hold some kind of carpet or panel in position ?

The plastic bracket to the door lock is not supposed to be removed; you should disconnect the door lock from the door shell and remove the door panel with the lock unit attached. The way you have done it is not a problem though.

It looks like the cap that covers the upper most screw (the one that holds the door lock cylinder in place) on the end of the door.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    Hi mycarsavw,

The cap you mention has smooth sides and is shorter with what one might call a short hollow barrel without the "sideways teeth".

    But thank you anyway...

    Regards
    Kevin

Crasher: Thank you. As a newbie, perhaps I was not clear. When I replaced the regulator, the new mechanism was supplied all attached to the whole metal "breastplate". Consequently I had to transfer the door lock and speaker from the old to the new metal "breastplate".

    Regards

OK, clear now. The plastic bracket isn’t important, it is just an assembly aid.
