Hi there. Just bought an autowindow module to be able to close my windows with the remote and i got the bright option which turn on the headlights when i use the remote (like the merc do).

what i want is to turn on the headlights and a set of lights at the rear. at the moment there's a relay with one wire going to autowindwo module, one going to the horn;s fuse (which provides 12V) and the other going to the headlightt's fuse.

this works fine, but when i do this with the brake light's fuse it doesn't work (think it's to do with the brake pedal switch). same with the reverse lights (car has to be in reverse for them to turn on).

anyway, i can't find the fuse for the back red lights that turn on with the headlights. is it possible to turn on any lights at the back simply by supplying their fuse with 12V?

The short answer is no. It works for the headlights because they operate via a relay and the fuse is on the output side of the relay. For all rear lights, there's no relay and the fuse is on the input side of the switch, so as you have worked out, the switch is the problem. You will need to run a wire to the switched side of the circuit.

ok so what if i just wire the relay from autowindow to the brake pedal switch?? that way the car will simply think i'm pressing the pedal, and the lights turn on whether the car is on or off.
    would that work?

and why is it that only the headlights are fused after the switch?

Yeah, you could use the brake light circuit, the principle is exactly the same whichever you use. The wiring to the brake light switch might be more accessible. Be sure that you don't wire up both the headlights and the brake light switch to the same output from the module, otherwise you'll flash the lights every time you brake and the brake lights will come on when you turn on the headlights!

There are two circuits for the headlights. One deals with the switch and the energising side of the relay. The other deals with the headlights and the contact side of the relay.
