Hot Car Music Interface AMI to USB 2.0 Output Adapter Aux Cable for Audi Q7 MA15 | eBay Hi all,

I've just bought myself a 2006 Audi A6 Avant 3.0TDI SE with toys.

Toys include Satnav, Digital TV, DAB radio, BOSE, air height adjustable suspension, electric memory seats etc.

I've noticed in the MMI that there can be two Aux inputs. I would like to know how to add a USB input into the MMI system. Is it even possible?

I've seen this on ebay... but I can't imagine it's that simple to do.

Alternatively, can the disc changer be made to read MP3 CDs?

Does anyone have any info on this?

USB needs Audi Music Interface really, google and search for ideas.

CD changer can't be modified to read MP3s, it's hardware so you need a new changer.

That cable you linked is for AMI.

I've tried eBay and a quick Google search and I can't see any Audi MP3 CD changers. Can I use a Kenwood or Alpine etc. unit? Would the MP3 song titles come up on the MMI screen?

I've found this... Gateway 500S BT and think that would do the trick quite nicely. Is there a cheaper option though?

How do I find out which version of sound system I have? It's the 10 speaker Bose system, but what's the Audi term for it? Symphony? Concert?

Also, how do I find out what the paint code for the car? It's got some light scratches which I'd like put right myself. I've looked through the user manuals and there's no paint code listed anywhere.

They go by the part number so if you google you'll find it. No aftermarket cd changer will work, has to be Audi.

Yes Dension will work great and will do what you want it to do.

You have BOSE, Concert and Symphony are headunits in other models.

Paint code will be on the data sticker in the spare wheel well.

I know it's a question for Dension / sales rep but if you happen to know - will the Dension integrate with the MMI? Will the MP3 tags work so the song information comes up on the screen(s)? If that ticks all the boxes there's no point in going down the AMI route for my needs as I will still need the Bluetooth after that.

I'm trying to buy the Dension Gateway 500S as the Bluetooth hands free kit in my Audi works fine so I don't need it. The Dension website is down as when I click on 'Buy now' it takes me to a 'page is not available' and can't buy the product. Does anyone know the part number for it so I can buy it elsewhere?

Or does anyone know the part number for the official Audi AMI?

Try eBay or another reseller? Ami part number for 2g is on the forum, do a search.

Hi all, just to let you all know that I swapped out my CD changer for the AMI system. It's REALLY easy to do, but fiddly if you want to keep your CD changer as well as you have to cut out the back of the glove box to fit the AMI including cables (the AMI is slightly longer than the CD changer including enough space as to not bend the cables).
I had to upgrade the MMI software (it was on 28.3.0) for the AMI to be recognised. After the MMI was upgraded to 5530 (I think it was) it picked up my 64GB USB stick no problem, but funnily enough, after the upgrade to 5570, the 64GB stick wasn't recognised. I'm now using a 32GB stick (which is still plenty!).
The AMI cost me £280 cash from turbo_herbie on ebay and the guys over there were very helpful when I was fitting the system in.
