A few months ago we started up the car and could get any gears with clutch pushed down, but with engine switched off and clutch pressed own you could go though the gearbox easily. I then turned r on again and issue seemed to have fixed itself and clutch and gears were fine.

Last night the sae thing occurred, when first starting car we cant select any gear with clutch pressed down, it just grinds wen you try to put it into gear (all gears). Turned off, tried selecting gears with clutch down a engine off an it is fine. However tis time when restarting problem I still there with engine running and couldn't get ay gears.

We had to get car recovered. Recovery chap couldnt get into gear either with engine running, however when he got back to ours and offloaded vehicle the problem had seemed to have fixed itself again. He sat in car and pressed clutch don once it was working ok and said clutch seem fine but had no idea what problem is.

Does anyone have any ideas or as anyone else suffered with intermittent problems selecting all gears when engine running?

PS - there have been no signs of clutch wear so far such as lipping etc.

    Thanks

its either the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, or the clutch itself. you need to replicate the fault and then see if you can tell whether or not the clutch is actually being pressed by the slave or not. its probably the clutch to be fair, if the pedal feels normal.

Thanks for the response. Master and slave seem to be ok, no leaks from either and fluid level is ok.

Don't seem to be able t replicate fault at present an I`m loath to have clutch taken out if its not currently doing it, in case garage advise this looks fine once taken out and inspected.

Has anyone else had this intermittently?
