    Dear all,
a warning about the 1.4 Tsi 150 DSG.

I have the same engine with DSG in a 1 year old Seat. The Seat has covered 23,000 miles. The DEALER tells me the engine and gearbox are exactly the same as in the Golf.

It has suddenly lost power and stopped 5 times. This can be extremely dangerous - twice other cars have had to brake suddenly and swerve to avoid hitting my car.
It has been back to the DEALER 3 times. They cannot find the fault. Seat "customer service" are a complete joke. As the DEALER cannot find a fault, Seat HQ and VW HQ will take no action. I have written to the MD who sends the e-mails back to the call-centre, so I get another script read to me.

So I am stuck with the death trap, and all that Seat say is to keep driving it so that it can happen again.

If it were a plane, it would have been grounded. If it were a tool in the work-place, H & S would have been all over it.

As it is a car, VW Group seem happier if I kill myself or my daughter rather than do anything about it.

They have problems in Aus and China with this set up.

    AVOID !!!!

Rejection is simple within 6 months. After a year, though, it is more difficult. Plus, it has done 23,000 miles.

No. The threads are in quite different places to send the warning to different audiences. Thanks. dickt

    1) If the engine is 1 year old, it will be a 140ps version, albeit very similar mechanically.

    2) What leads you to believe the issue is specific to this engine, if the fault hasn't been diagnosed ?

    1. No. It is the 150. This was placed in the Seat Ibiza before it was placed in the Golf.
    2. If an engine stops suddenly, for no apparent cause, it appears to me that there is an issue with the engine/gearbox combination. All the other stuff such as brakes, sensors on the brakes, lights and etc work OK. (Sometimes with earlier models' Seat wiring, faulty brake lights have lead to engine electrical problems - this has been checked)

It has not been changed. Whether or not it has been specifically checked, I do not know. The dealer tends to rely on fault reporting. The car's memory has told the dealer that there are no faults. Something of a "catch-22". (Altho it is years since I read that book!!)

Whoops - yes, forgot it was in the Ibiza already, when you said it was a Seat I just assumed it was a Leon.
