I have seen them with failed chains, failed supercharger clutches, leaking water pumps, rattling con rod bearings and worst and most common of all, burnt out exhaust valves due to heavy valve guide wear and with as little as 30K on the clock....Downsized massively pumped up engines, crap modern oil with no Zinc additive, Longlife serving, poor quality fuel and owners abusing serve intervals, it all stacks up. These downsized boosted engines are a future owner nightmare time bomb. They may get the Co2 figures down and LongLife servicing keeps the first owners costs down but God help the poor sods who buy one of these things when they are 10 years old, scrap yard fodder in waiting. In the next few years we will start to see the current crop of new cars being utter disasters and seeing a five year old car scrapped due to the repair costs will become a common occurrence.
