Currently driving a B8 Black Edition as a company car which is due for renewal in July 2016. As you do I am already considering my next car (B9 Avant) but seem to recall that the Black Edition spec wasn't added to the range until some time after the B8 Avant was launched.

Can anyone confirm the gap between the launch of the B8 Avant and the Black Edition release?

    Cheers

The B9 hasn't been released yet nor have any press releases been released.

Cheers. I'm aware if that but trying to work out if a Black Edition of the B9 will be available before summer 2016. I recall that the Black edition was added to the B8 range some time after the launch of the B8 and wondered whether there was a general rule that BE is added a set time period after launch of a model.
For example there is no BE of the current A3 following its launch.

    thanks

It came around 3 years or so after the B8 was released. I got one of the first ones and it's on an 11 plate. Whether this will happen again, who knows? There was a 'Special Edition' trim level before it that basically had everything the Black Edition had bar the styling pack, different wheels and the rear tints...

This is an assumption, but I reckon the Black Edition is now a mainstay in the Audi range, much like the S line is. IIRC the S-Line was 'trialled' in all but badging late in the B6 lifecycle and introduced proper atthe start of the B7 production run (my '04 B6 was a Quattro Sport but had exactly the same styling as the B7 S line), so there's no reason a in my mind that the Black Editition won't be there from the get-go. They may of course call it something else for the B9, but that would mean the A4 is inconsistent with the A3, TT and A6....

That said, I'm no marketing expert, so my assumption could be way off!
