Anybody know whether there is a washer on the bolt holding the hydraulic brake hose to the caliper on 2004 Mk5 GTTDi?

Yes there is one either side of the fitting but you cannot buy the bolt or the washers from VW so we re-use the bolt (carefully cut the old washers off) and fit copper washers.

Thanks for that Crasher, that could present a problem if the washers cannot be sourced from VW! I can get some copper ones from work but I would need to know the ID and OD and thickness and I don't want to take the originals off until I have all the bits. Any idea on the sizes of the washers matey or if they can be sourced elsewhere?

The banjo bolt is M10 and has a shoulder under the head before the fluid passage under cut which is 9.9-mm in dia so a washer with an ID of 10-mm minimum would be needed. The copper washers we use have an ID of 10.30-mm an OD of 14.88 and are 1.7-mm thick, so they are slightly baggy on the OE banjo. These are what the Goodridge hoses use so we have a bag full as people lose them.
