Defo a botch job as whoever did it used paste to fill the gap on the manifold just no idea why there is a gap! All will be revealed early next week. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and have it done. Not worth me selling on! Good job both my wife and I love the car and don't want to swap it for anything else. Looks like my 11.5k a6 just cost me 13.5k

Well am guessing since a recent purchase and an 07 3.0 you've some sort of warranty from the dealer?

Bought my 07 quattro (albeit a saloon) over 2yrs ago and paid just £8.5k with below 80k miles...so am guessing your higher price came with some sort of comeback on the trader?

Wasn't suggesting you would pass your problem onto anyone else...merely that's what the last owner or dealer did

Wow 8.5k that sounds very cheap for a 07 quattro mine is the 3.0tdi quattro le mans and I couldn't find anything close to 8.5k! mine wasn't sold with a warranty and I have no idea where I would stand with a complaint, I've had it now since march so even if there was a month or so it would have passed which I'm guessing is why paste was used to get it through a few months use.

Mines a mere SE (spec in my signature) was originally £9.5k. Seller was Eastern European who'd booked his flight back home 3 days after the sale was arranged. Got him to do an Audi health check prior to sale being agreed.

Then three days before picking up told him that I'd run an HPI check and knew it had £6.5k of outstanding finance and the deal was off.

Of course he had nowhere else to go and had to agree to my terms of £1k off, a full tank of diesel and him dropping the car off.

Paid the finance off and he left with £2k in his mitts

Just sometimes it backfires on the con artists and chances

Glad to hear you did the correct checks and didn't get burnt

I've just done a very quick search on fleabay and found that the cheapest a6 avant 3.0 quattro le mans is actually for sale through the same dealer. Very low mileage but seems to be missing electric seats and reversing camera. He asking almost 14k and that's the cheapest one. OK it's an 08 model

well, if you purchased this car from a dealer then it does have a warranty in that they are more or less responsible for any fault within 6 months of purchase. i really wish people would learn what their rights are when buying cars. the sales of goods act is there to help you. also read this Court rejects dealer's right to repair - Car Dealer Magazine

I did purchase from a dealer. The bath car company to be precise. He seemed like a really nice chap on the phone.

Since this manifold has come to light I have Googled his company and he has a couple of bad reviews some look like people who wanted my car as it was around the time I bought and they say they went to view a a6

Typically I bought this car exactly 6 months ago today!

I will still be making a claim against the dealer for the cost of this repair and I will be using the this forum as evidence that the issues started back in May

(Working overseas for months on end doesn't help getting your car looked at)

I will wait to hear from the garage in Crawley and then put my evidence together against the dealer.

I'm sure it will be a nightmare if he is anything like he was about the flat spare tyre he left in wheel well

As always I will come back with more info soon.

There are 10 Estates of 07 and younger on Autotrader for less than £10k, all trade from mileages from 62k upwards...do people honestly use Ebay to look at potential car buy's...I do to gauge the price range but that's about it.

Yeah there is no reason not to. There is a lot of crap in eBay but it's just a way if advertising. If you do all your checks there shouldn't be a problem.
