    Hi,

My 2.0 2008 TDI has recently been in the VW garage and they pointed out the boost pipe seals are leaking. I've since had a good look and cleaned them up, but they are leaking. Not massively but oil is like dog sh*t, a little bit goes a long way!

The cars done 70k and there was no mention at the last service (10k/1 year ago)

I'm new to this problem, my previous identical 2004 car, when at the same age and mileage plus a further 10k never had this problem.

I'm assuming the O-ring and/or the aluminium lugs are worn.

Is there a now cure, such as just o-rings sort it or is it a case of change all the hoses...?

    Or lve with it!?

    Thanks.

I hoped someone might have at least experienced this problem.

Another question related is how to undo the 17mm (i think) hex bolt head that holds the supporting bracket for the boost pipe that runs down the front of then engine, nothing i have fits (adj/open ended, ring spanner or socket grrrr!)
    thanks

I have a 2007 2.0 tdi 140 and had to remove the bracket to inspect the pipe yesterday and they are definately torn bolts T27 or T30 if I recall correctly, hope this helps..

you could try to replace the green O rings about a fiver each from VW its a quick and easy job and you don't really need to remove the said bracket, then reinstall the under tray and check a week later if the job is fixed (obviously give it a good clean up so you can tell if its reorcurring)

It's a hexagon bolt head I can see. Half way between the egr and intercooler... approx 17mm hex

Without removing said bracket it a very hard two man job to get the pipe back in the egr without getting it misaligned.
The o ring on the egr one I saw was black.
A friend with a fabia says it's also the ally lugs that fret and allow the pipe to twist and unseal under load, not just the o rings

ah I thought you meant the pipe on the drivers side from turbo down to the intercooler, thats because I've had that one off 3 times its etched in the brain lol, not done the other side of the intercooler as them pipes look fine thank god

I will get it up on ramps and have a good look at that side hopefully my own problem maybe there..

also I think the black O rings are the old design and the green ones are the upgrades from VW, someone hopefully will confirm

There is a VW dealer TPI for this problem and the solution is thicker "O" rings, your VW dealer should know this!

    Intresting!

The wording on the VHC (visual heath check) was 'both bottom boost seals leaking' with £43.20 cost to fix (plus the vat no doubt) i was told nothing more

I bet you dont know a TPI number ref or if it's one the customer has to pay for? are these green o-rings by any chance?

It shows on partscats a o-ring (no. 3 and 3A) listed for either end of the pipe that goes in to the egr valve, 3C0145117F @ 57.85mm but i can tell if this is the new on or not...

The formentioned bracket is where hexagon bolt No.19A fits

Rusty front wings is another TPI but do they 'want' to know it, NO - but thats another topic to say the least!!!
