Audi 3.0 v6 2010 poor MPG

I have an A5 sportback with the 3.0 diesel engine,
I'm getting about 30mpg and have read a few posts saying people can get late 30's it's just clocked over 24k and was wondering if there is anything I can do, it been back to Audi as it's in warranty still and they say nothing is showing up as a fault.
Is there summit that would need to be cleaned out, like diesel crap building up?

30mpg is normal, if you wanted economy buy a TDIe.

Well obviously I wasn't expecting 45mpg but as people have put when when searching the forum there getting more than 30
I was mainly asking if there was a particular place/ manifold that gets built up with soot/crap that that can clean out help the exhaust flow

I see mid/high 30s on a long run if i'm gentle with my foot (3.0 A6 quattro 2008) but realistically low 30s is more the norm.

Driving slow is boring and if I want MPG I drive my A3 which averages high 60s.

I've had mine since 33k (now on 102k) and never cleaned egr or anything.

If you're really really careful you'll get into the 40s and even at that, the DIS overreads MPG.

I agree with Chris........I do average around 37 /38mpg measured not from DIS but that's with a lot of motorway driving from 2009 facelift A6 3.0 Quattro. Driving locally I probably get low 30's.So I don't see your mpg as that unusual.

I agree - 2008 A4 3.0 Quattro - 32 calculated but dis reads higher

I trust your car is an auto?
I have had many Marques with 3.2d/3.0d engines... All autos and apart from my awfull XF (averaged 28mpg) they have generally settled at about 32-33 mpg, my current A5 sport is manual and has settled slightly higher at 35mpg. My driving is very mixed so I am happy with this and didn't expect any more.
New ultra engine looks to delivering very descent MPG figures but you have a heavy Quattro car with an excellent lump in it... Enjoy

@city1000 I have 2005 A6 Avant V6 3.0 TDi auto and I've replaced/cleaned a few bits that should up mpg IMO but get 24-30mpg on mixed condition driving (town/mway) and if do long mway run 35-40 mpg with CCS engaged and very little spirited driving. Unless I ejected bits of interior and lost weight I don't think I'd get anymore MPG! LOL

I have come to the conclusion that its just the way the car is built, I have been looking at getting the car mapped but that will happen when the warranty ends
think that will make the car much better drive and who knows it might get better mpg

So far on this forum only limited peeps I've seen with high MPG on a V6 TDi

It really requires very reserved driving, long runs. On my auto I find engaging cruise helps mpg. You can also find real mpg data on our cars on sites like https://www.fuelly.com/ plus True MPG - genuine, achievable fuel economy tests from What Car? and other sites.
