    Hi all,

I would hugely appreciate some advice here, feel like I'm drowning in a sea of numbers! Having finally decided on an A5 over an A6, I've spent the last few weeks trying to work out the best way for me to go about purchasing this car.

I'm tempted now to go used (1 or 2 yr old) instead of new. I have a few questions, I know I could ask the dealer these, but I don't want to come across like an utter mug (and then get taken for one).

For an example I really like this car, nearly exactly what I'm after, at a dealer not far from me:

Can anyone offer some thoughts on what kind kind of Audi Solutions PCP finance offer I might be able to get on that, after some haggling?

    Thank you!

That's not far off the price of a brand new A6 ultra s line. On the Audi deal it is coming in ay 389 pm with a 6k deposit plus a final payment. If you were swithering it might be worth having a look at that - brand new car, my 15, 3 year warranty and the ultra engine.

I was looking at a similar priced S5 Sportback over the last few weeks. Car is £25,000, £3000 down, £500 dealer contribution, £450pm over 39 monhs, £9.8k balloon, they started at 12.6% and went down to 9.9. Its still high imo so I haven't gone back to them yet.

Not sure why people are so reluctant to discuss figures on the forum. It helps us all achieve better deals if we know what we could get from the dealer.

I've just picked up a new A4, and after getting offers through carwow & orangewheels, negotiated nearly a 20% discount (via a dealer contribution close to £6k) on a £31k S-Line. Taking into consideration the 6.8% APR on new cars versus the 10%+ on used, it was cheaper to get brand new.

Granted, on certain models you won't get discounts at those levels, but even with the APR difference, it's worth considering new over used.

I too used carwow - cash discount of around 13% plus £2k contribution on finance, so near 20% overall discount. I got a quote from a dealer some 25 miles away, but they're part of the same group as my local (4 miles away) dealer, and the local dealer agreed to pricematch.

I presume you can't wait a bit? I've been choosing between A5 & A6, and have come to the conclusion that I really like the A5 (possibly the Cabriolet) but the interior of the A6 is so much nicer (partly due to the "new technology" in it). I understand that a new A5 is coming out next year, and so will wait for that. My existing car (Volvo C70 convertible) seems OK albeit fairly worthless, so I'm hopeful that will keep me going. Buying a new (or nearly new) A5 and see the value drop just because there's a newer version out would be too depressing!
