Hi everybody, I have read a lot of useful information from all the specialist members and I have a huge issue you can probably help guide me. The wife has a mk5 golf 1.6 fsi BLF and the timing has jumped and the car doesn't start, my local bosch garage did a compression test and got low compression in all cylinders and zero in cyl 4. He wanted to charge est £250 to remove the head and check for further damage. I don't want to spend too much on the car as its still on finance and anymore than £1k on repairs i'd be as well throwing it away.

Any suggestions of what the damage could be, maybe some bent valves at best ??

Thanks for your input in advance.

Common problem on the FSI/ TSI engines unfortunately and isn't really a cheap way of fixing. Your best bet might be to find a reconditioned/ used engine on eBay and getting someone to fit it. Take a read of this VW Mk5 Golf TSi Engine & Timing Chain Problem | Adam Lewin

Thanks mate I read that article and sounds exactly the same issue, parked on a steep hill in gear and it rolled back jumping the chain.

Hope everyone is aware, get your chain checked after 60-70k miles and don't park on hills in gear.

My mrss 1.2 Ibiza had chain jumped a few weeks ago too,it was only 1 tooth so a new kit with cam gears fitted and running well now but before spending any money see how much its jumped, time it up if not far off and check the compression,if all good fit a new kit, oil+filter.
