Possible Injector Fault

Hi, I have a 2007 1.9 TDi S 105. Last week it suddenly starting making what can only be described as very loud banging noise when running - and more from the left top ish part of the engine Immediate thought was a piston hitting a valve. It really sounded bad and obviously I didnt dare run it. I put a reader on the car and it threw up "Fuel injector driver circuit performance bank 1". So took the rocker cover off and removed the injectors one by one. #1 bore was full of diesel - the other three were dry as you would expect.

I think the next step is to have the injectors checked over. After research it seems that these Bosch injectors are the devil's own work but in my experience with many PD engines I have not had a problem with 1.9.

Getting them checked could be expensive. Can anyone give me pointers on this?

Further to this the injectors have been checked and have come back good. Means a head off job it seems. Could be damaged valve or something serious. Any pointers appreciated.
