    Hi All.
I am wondering how a mechanic decides the biting point of a clutch when a new one is being fitted ?

    Marko.

normally we don't, they tend to be self adjusting so the biting point is set for you. on a cable clutch with an adjuster, you set it up sort of halfwayish, then test drive it and make sure all the gears can select nicely. quite often the biting point will be in a manual, clutch pedal height from floor, but this info is not always to hand so you just use experience.

    Thanks Zollaf.
I'm thinking my clutch is getting a wee bit tired. With the pedal fully depressed, and on letting the pedal out, the bite is almost the full travel of the pedal. It was a motor factors clutch which I read somewhere aren't amongst the greatest. Not sure if mine is the cable type. It's going onto an AZD 2001.

4th gear, low revs, 2k rpm or so, floor it. does it slip. slight dab on the pedal throttle flat out to get it slipping, foot straight off clutch, does it grab and revs fall straight back down or do revs slowly come down ?

    Hi Zollaf.
The clutch isn't slipping. Going to get her done hopefully this week for piece of mind, and while I have the money.
    Thanks for your input.

    Marko
