My newly purchased 2009 1.9 tdi is on long life service (2 yrs). Pleased to hear on the pro's/con's of this as have always changed oil at 1 yr intervals. Are long life oils really that good? For long engine life 12 month oil changes are usually the norm.

long life oil changes sell cars to fleet buyers as they only need to spend half the money on service costs. if you want max resale value and/or a car that lasts a long time, change it every 10k or annually.

I agree with Zol, 10k/1yr whichever comes first.

VW even have a Fixed Price Servicing deal for cars over 3yrs old and up to and including 2.0 engines if you want to keep the car within the network.
