The car a 3.2 petrol A6 Quattro tells me that at just under 45k it's due for a service, the problem is, I seem to have misplaced the service manual

From what I can gather it's oil & filter, fuel filter and a couple of air filters, am I missing anything here ? what's the thinking on tyre rotation, I have Hankook V12 Evo's {they seem to stick pretty well} with about 10k {if that} on them.

Other than the above there seems to very slow radiator fluid leak somewhere, about a liter a month, I've had the car into an Audi Dealer, they couldn't find it even though they pressure tested it overnight, any thoughts on where that might be. This has been going on for months now but no one seems able to figure it out, thought I'd get some of that fluorescent dye and put add it to the rad, if there is a leak then a black light should show it up.

What was replaced last service? If you can't remember then do a visual inspection of all filters brakes etc.

Hello Chris, the previous owner had all the services done as per schedule.
I had brake work done about a year ago, so nothing has been neglected so to speak.

If it was main dealer service then they'll have the schedule recorded and can order you a new book and bring it up to date with the info they hold...inc stamps.

Or that was what Jag dealer did for me when I bought my car in 2008...dunno what Audi would charge?

Doesn't everyone when they have work on their car put it away any documentation immediately

Oh, and this thread might be worthwhile reading, not sure if it would be the same with a petrol engined car though:

    Coolant loss

Maybe worthwhile to be near a bathroom from page 3 onwards

As Mark says ring Audi and they'll sort a new duplicate service book and then its up to you to ring the dealers who serviced the car and ask for a new stamp.

    Hello Mark,

Thanks for the above, appreciated, as for the service record well, the old bloke I bought the car off had misplaced them, but after contacting Audi they sent me copies of everything that had been done, nothing had been skipped and all done by the original dealer.

The problem I have is, we recently moved house, lots of stuff still in boxes, and although I know I have the service manual and the print outs that Audi sent me I can't lay my hands on them at the moment, so I'm guessing what's needed at 45k.

As for the local Dealer, they wanted >£200 to do the oil & filter stuff, but then insisted that the oil in the multitronic needed changing and this would cost me >400 quid !!! I baulked at that because I'm near sure that the car is triptronic and as such is a sealed unit ?

Other than the above, I'd particularly like to hear what folks think about tyre rotation on a 4WD.

    Thanks again.

    Bob.

No different to a fwd car, I usually swap mine around front to rear every 10k.

Have a set of summer and winter wheels and have covered only 1k miles per month. All tyres on that mileage have even wear so far.

What mileage do you do with what type of load?

    Hello Mark & Chris,

I don't do much mileage {since I retired}, on average around 7k per year, 10k at the most, I've found the Hankook Evo's to be decent tyres, I'm not an aggressive driver the speed limit is fine for me, I aint in a rush anymore as for the load, top weight is when my Staffy co-pilots.

The great man once said...."If you need to break the speed limit....you really should have left earlier!"*
