My car which is probably the same as the OP's (maybe slightly newer? 2011 C6 facelift) came with the following (3g MMI HDD)

    Software Version HNav_EU_K0206_2_D1
Nav Database Version 8R0060884N ECE 5.12.5

From what I have read on Forums this is from a German forum (and I won't post a link as mods will rightfully delete it), there are 2 firmware upgrades since then

    8R0906961CC takes software to
    K_0253 European (A4, A5, Q5, A6, A8, Q7) SVM: 3GHEU253

    and 8R0906961DF (the latest) takes software to K_0257 European (A4, A5, Q5, A6, Q7) SVM: 3GHEU257

It suggests also that you can go directly to K_0257 from K_0206 but not confirmed. Also on forums - they say the latest version mapping is 2014 and these are version 8R0060884BK ECE 6.17.3

So I don't know why Audi are telling you there are no updates. I have also seen the firms advertising online the updates for £100 - £130 which you probably linked in your first post, but I suspect these are not official Audi updates.

If you play about with the MMI update yourself, the risk is you bust it and it's ££££££. If you let Audi do it, yes it's expensive for a map update but no risk to you.

I do think if Audi dropped the map update price to £100, most owners would get it done every 3 years - and they would make more money. As it is, it's cheaper to buy a Top End Garmin. I just bought a Garmin today - my other car does not have built in Sat Nav, and I can take the garmin on holiday to USA with me! Replacing my old trusty Tom Tom One XL.

Got a call back, 2014 available via the 2 discs. Didn't mention a firmware update being required but I'd hope so.

Charging £178 for 2014 dvd's and £61 for activation. Hopefully it does include an update for that!

    Had the update done today...

Am a little worried that I've missed out on something, so if anyone has a 3G with the 2014 update or know otherwise can you please comment

When I got back in the car, I checked the map version. Couldn't remember what it was before so wasn't too bothered. But couldn't see any physical changes (should I?)

I had my 2010 maps on an SD card which was still in the machine, with the 2014 maps DVD. I decided to take the SD card out and reset the MMI, and when I went back to Nav it said an update was available to EU 2014. So I installed this update and it works fine.

I just have this niggling feeling that I should have more? I don't have any birds eye-esk view, and still on 4 digit post code (e.g. DE12 7). Also, I only have a single disc whereas the guy on the phone when I booked it in told me it was a 2 disc installation.

My Nav software version has changed but the general software hasn't (still P029 or something)

Any thoughts? Should I get back to them and ask about it?

I might be expecting too much, but want to get what I should have!!

    Thanks

    Owen.

I may be mistaken but I think you just get updated maps. It's still the same post-code system and the same map projection.

    Ok thanks for the reply.

I've emailed Audi UK to ask but those "dodgy" websites all state a firmware upgrade comes with it. Also checked the Wikipedia entry for the software versions and it mentions an update.

My software is P0029; apparently P is the software that came with the car, K is an update. So at least I know I've not had a software update.

I'm back in Tamworth tomorrow anyway so will stop by and see what they say :-)

I wouldn't believe "those" websites, see what Audi say.

As above, postcode and map view are the same.

Ok, will see what they say. Just saw that your 2g had the birds eye view and thought the 3g would too :-(

Not necessarily, I've gotten quite much information about both the RNS-E and MMI sites from different websites.
If I try to ask my dealer about it they have no clue what so ever.
    For instance, they claim:
    - there isn't possible for me to update the MMI system (with the FW discs that I can't buy from them)
    - it is not possible to retro-fit a RNS-E navi system (I did this in my C5 A6)
    - it is possible, but extremely difficult, to retrofit Bluetoot in both C5 and C6

    I've taken my 2010 C6 (3G MMI High) from 2010 maps to 2013 then 2014.

There's very little noticeable difference in the majority of usage. No extra features. Just some newer roads and way points and a few more lakes and parks shown on the maps vs. before.

Although the 2014 maps still show some roads as they were in 2012 before the council changed them all, so the actual maps are still a little dated.
And plenty of petrol stations still Shell that are now BP and have been for a couple of years, for example.

But, they're newer than the 2010 ones, so there must be some improvement!

Sadly, I think the majority of updates are across Europe rather than in the UK.
