Mine has popped off twice and on the second time nipped into dealer to have a look at it. Technician came out and clipped it back on but interestingly said its a well known fault on the mk7.. anyone else had this issue? Was given no fix just showed me how to clip back on but how poor is that?? Lol

Not sure if it's the same issue, but our car had a modification carried out at the last service for 'sticking fuel flap'. We wern't aware of any issues, so VW must be updating all cars anyway just in case.

Sounds like they could be. Tech told me the flap is very flimsy in its design and comes off if you just knock it slightly as you open or shut it.. I'd have thought they'd need a re design on the attachment brackets..

The "sticking fuel flap" is a different issue. Mine was dealt with at the recent 1st service. It was explained that the actuator that "pops" open the flap gets "lazy" - surprising on such a new vehicle! The fix involves fitting a clip - takes minutes - but I would advise anyone taking there car in for any work/service to ask to have it carried out.

I assume the fuel flap locks (and is alarmed?) when the car is locked. There is no key to the fuel cap on my diesel so having fuel nicked could be an issue.
