    Hi Peeps,

I really need some advice on this one so hopefully someone can guide me here.

I have a Mk4 Golf 1.9 TD GTI 150 PD with an ARL engine. I have had a lot of work done recently (Turbo, Camshaft, timing belt & water pump). I have had a constant issue with lack of boost since the replaced parts and from the VAGCOM software it shows a fault of 17964 "Charge pressure control negative deviation P1556-35-00--".

Ok so after checking the intake side for leaks it was discovered that on the top of the vacuum/diesel pump there is a hose connection, and this spins round when you twist the pipe connected to it, it's not a loose hose as the clip is done up tight, it's the metal piece that is in the pump that moves. Does this cause a loss of vacuum and therefore loss of boost?

Does anyone else on here have the same engine with this pump that they could check to see if their's spins round?
I got a replacement part off Ebay and the I phoned the guy to ask if it all works correctly and that the connections are tight to which he said yes. When it arrives on my doorstep guess what, the top connection that the hose fits on to spins round. So I'm now thinking maybe it should do that?

I managed to see a new vacuum /diesel pump and it doesn't spin round. I email the guy on Ebay and said that I do not believe this part is working properly and he insists it does and he has done a vacuum test on it and it works fine.

Should this part of the pump be a bit loose and spin round in your fingertips?

    PLEASE HELP BEFORE I CRY!!

Ok so I have replaced the tandem pump and no difference. Still getting the same fault code.
One thing that was noticed was the the air intake according, to the Vagcom software, is that the air intake pressure should be between 2200 and 2800. Mine reads 1496, and it's a constant reading. The MAP sensor has been replaced but again no difference.

    Any ideas?

Does anyone know how easy it is to check the wiring loom for the MAP sensor?

I can see there are 4 wires out of the back of the plug then they disappear in the engine bay. Does anyone know where I could get a detailed wiring diagram for by engine?

    Thanks

    Hi Darren,

I get the same error on my PD130. Word around the watercooler is that this error also comes from sticking vanes in Turbo. When you say you had work done on turbo, did you have it reconditioned? *if so, can i ask you rough guide price?
The best place for a detailed wiring diagram i found was my Haynes manual for the MK4 Golf..only issue with that is its very hard to relate lines on a page to wires in an engine bay :P

I had a reconditioned turbo fitted which cost around £400 for the turbo. It would now seem that the replacement turbo is not working as it should so it is coming off tomorrow ready to send back for a further replacement. I have had everything else tested and checked so I pray it is this fixes it.
