Hi, I have just bought a year 2000 quattro sport A4 saloon, with the 1.8T engine. I was hoping to fit a Steinbauer tuning box, but have just found out that they dont do one for this engine, as its too early. Also e-mailed a local revo dealer and they dont do a serial port downolad for this model. Anyone point me in the direction of someone who can do this in the Sufffolk, Norfolk, north essex area? Also thinking of a brake up-grade, to the VAG 312mm discs. Will i need to change calipers, or just use different carriers? Thanks in advance, Mark

I have never done a 312 conversion on an 8D A4 but the 2001 8E A4 was available with 312's although the caliper carrier used M14 bolts. As for a power increase, send your ECU to Awesome and they will APR chip it for you.

Thanks Docurley, interesting link. I presume as mine is a late face-lift car (2000my), it should be possible to use the serial port? i was suprised Revo did'nt do it. i will check out the group but you mentioned. Thank, Mark

Depends if you are drive by wire or not.

If you have a normal throttle wire that you can pull to rev the engine then no you can't and you are none drive wire and will have to have a chip dropped in.

Engine code is AJL and it is conventional throttle cable. Any reason this would be so, I thought Audi had gone over to drive by wire by the time my car was built (03/2000)? Wheres the Ecu on the A4, by the way?
