    If you've bought a new car, then I guess £70 isn't really that much to lose, considering the thousands you're already happy to lose in terms of the depreciation.

    I just picked a syphon pump of eBay and 2 x 25ltr jerry cans

    Alternatively lift the rear seat out, remove the cover and pump out from there.

    Cost £12 so no, plus the dealer wasn't prepared to give me a full tank so why should they benefit from me.

    If the dealer had been a bit nicer and willing to provide me with what I'd asked for then obviously I would have left it. But was out of principle really

    But yeh was a bit of a pain, and not something I will do again to be honest

    Yes it depends on the car a petrol car will a diesel won't, but we can't see your car spec. But will only run the pump for a couple of seconds not enough to drain the tank.

    been a while since I tinkered with a diesel - I remember the old ones would make a big mess when you forgot to connect something critical up - I guess there is a non return valve or something these days to stop air getting into the system - makes sense I guess
