    Hi all,

Hope you can help a first time Audi prospect!

I've been looking at 2nd hand large estates to replace our C4, and the new A6 is firmly in pole position. Budget is about £25k and a quick look on Autotrader suggest some examples are starting to hit that price but they are the early 12 and 62 reg cars.

My question is - have Audi changed the standard spec of the S-Line (or SE) since then? I've got the latest 2014 brochure and the equipment list is extensive, but I wanted to check that the first cars also had this spec. If not, does anyone know what has been changed?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Rob

You won't get dab or power tailgate (avant only) but I think that's it. On the upside lots of second handers come with pre fitted options so you can get really lucky.

here is a link to the original C7 brochure from Audi http://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/au...20Jan%2010.pdf. Nothing really changed until last may with the MY14 cars when they added DAB as standard and the Avant got powered tailgate as standard. MY14 cars with Audi Connect are also able to have a SIM card in the dash slot and still have a phone connected via bluetooth for voice calls which is important if your phone does not support rSAP as the only way then to get the data connection is via the dash SIM

My Wife wanted to sell hers for about £25k...but you wouldn't want it.

Interesting to know that's about the price now on Autotrader though.

...also at a budget of £25k, if you are happy with the 2.0 engine then you are not that far off getting a new one using Audi Finance offers. Worth looking at Audi's website and also brokers such as DrivetheDeal and Orangewheels to see what you can get.

John - just to confirm on the Audi Connect comment....you mean the Bluetooth connection will be via the Handsfree not the Carphone option with the SIM in the dash? As a relative newbie I've read so much on this subject and thought my understanding clear so just nee to double check!
Audi A6 C7 2.0TDI Sline (MY14), 4 door Multitronic, Ibis White, Heated front seats with memory, Privacy glass, Technology pack, Elec/heated/folding mirrors, Luggage compartment liner - flexible.

OK. If you have the Technology Pack (as you do and thus Audi Connect) on an MY14 car there are three ways you can get connect the phone to the car and get data access for things like Traffic and Google Maps. Firstly you can use the simple bluetooth connection. If your phone supports rSAP (and there are only a few that do and the iPhone definitely does not!) you can use the data connection on your phone to provide data to the navigation system etc. If your phone does not support rSAP then on an MY14 car you can still connect the phone via Bluetooth and also place a SIM with a 3G data plan in the SIM slot on the dash and get data for the navigation that way, but it does require you to have two plans one for your phone and one for the car SIM. On models prior to MY14 putting the data SIM in the slot disabled the Bluetooth phone function which made a lot of people very frustrated, but at least Audi listened and changed it. Obviously (even on a MY14 car) the in-dash SIM could also function as a phone connection but using this would not allow you to connect a second phone via Bluetooth (for phone functions it would still work as an audio device). There is an option in the MMI menus for you to select whether the phone connection is via the SIM or via Bluetooth. The final way of connecting a phone is by buying the relevant cradle (if one exists) and placing it in connector dock in the armrest. This provides a fixed connection for the phone and also charges it. However the ability to use the phone as a data gateway is the same as if it were connected via Bluetooth (ie the phone needs to support rSAP).

    Hope that clarifies the situation

I really appreciate that summary. I don't want to take this thread off course, on a well worn subject, but I see this as an opportunity to nail this for me once and for all.

I have tested this using an rSAP capable phone (Blackerry Bold) and it works smoothly as you describe.

My current siuation is I have a data only sim in the dash. I can connect by Bluetooth no problem but I thought calls went by default through the handsfree function (inferior quality) rather than the Carphone function (superior quality) because yo ucant use a sim in teh dash and bluetooth using the carphone function as the same time.

What I want is the data sim in the dash, Bluetooth for calls via the carphone function - is that achievable with my Tech Pack and model year?

    Thanks.

As I understand it that should be possible. I do not have a MY14 car with Tech Pack, but my understanding is that there is an option (i believe in the phone menu) in the MMI system to select whether the phone function uses the in-dash SIM or the bluetooth connected phone. I am sure someone who has this set-up will be along soon to confirm how you select which SIM to use for phone functionality

I bought an Avant S Line with a couple of extras with 6k miles on it and 6 months old from Machargs in Glasgow for £25k 6 months ago so they're out there.
