I guess it's all horses for courses.
Best sales experience I've had was at BMW Oxford.
Nicest salesguy I've dealt with was at Poole Audi.
Worst sales experience I've EVER had was BMW Poole.
    Best service at BMW Osterley.
Worst service experience at Westover Skoda in Poole.

Good and bad everywhere. But like life really.

Everyone has good days, everyone has bad days, everyone caries the experience of that person who serves them on their good/bad day forever. You could have that worst experience at Rolls Royce and that best experience at Zastava or the other way around, in the end it is life and what happens. I hate loathe and despise everything and anything that is BMW BUT I cannot help but admire what they have done at RR, even though it pains me! If I had been on the board of VW when they bought RR/Bentley I would have known they were making a mistake JUST from reading what I did in the press, that they screwed it up has turned out OK for English workers and when it comes to the bottom line, that is where my loyalties lie.

I suppose that Audi check on their dealers via surveys etc. but do they do anything about bad customer service?

I guess that some dealers have too much power and Audi let them get away with it?

In years gone by poor dealers would lose there franchises.

One of the reasons I have an Audi is the sales staff. When I bought my first A6 it was between the Audi and a 5 series BMW. When I went in to the BMW dealership the staff in there were playing football with a rolled up piece of paper and pretty much ignored me, so that was them out. Later, not long before my second A6 I considered a Mercedes CLS. I went in to view a car on the Saturday and was asked to come back the next day as the 'dealer' was busy. So I made an appointment and went back. Again the dealer was talking (casually) to some one else and made no effort to speak to me despite trying to get his attention - they simply didn't seem to care. Audi have always courteous, obliging and actually make an effort in all my dealings with them - now I'm on my 3rd A6. The only other dealership that were OK were Jaguar. I was killing time and arrived at one before they had even opened properly, but the guys took the trouble and seemed to at least care about a sale.

I have to say that my experiences with Audi salesmen, and I've only dealt with one, have been exceptional. He can't do enough to make us feel special and we have now brought our second new car from him.

It definitely helps, and right now I can't see us going for another brand as the service at our Audi dealers is fantastic,

Most dealers are multi-franchise operations now anyway, able to rest well and truly on their laurels, so you're bang on there.

As an example, Audi UK were backing up the dealership at the height of our problems, the customer was well and truly wrong, even when they damaged the car whilst in their possession.

finally got the call back . went for a test drive in the dirtest avaitor blue audi in the world, is it so hard to get someone to give the car a once over before letting someone test drive it . .

it was a black edition even tho i asked for the s line . the ride was terrible , felt like i could feel every little bump in the road , was noisey too. might have something to do with the 20 inch wheels n sports suspension . i told the saleswoman this who then got the sales manager and i was forced to repeat myself lol friendly enough but why???/she suggested i looked at the s line with the 18 inch wheel s , the one i asked for first ....

took it out for a test drive , it felt much better , and a lil quietier and being silver looked cleaner and a better colour imo too.....

.had a brief chat about discounts on the sline but she seemed unwilling well got the feeling from what she was saying there wasnt much they would do , so called it a day and said i d be back got in my 15 year old shinning red audi a6 with two hundred and fifteen thousand miles on the clock...which imho looked better deffinitely than the avaitor blue car i first test drove and felt no difference in driving than the brand new s line .....

tbh i was disappointed with the whole experience , i was willing to spend 24000 on a one yr old s line but after that test drive feel i got some thinking to do . it s a testmony to audi how gd my current car is but i expected so much more .... fifteen years later and quite a lot more in expense to buy a new one

Guys, does anyone know how long it should take a dealer to come back when requesting a test drive?

It has been nearly a week and heard nothing?

Also, any experience with the any of the Manchester based Audi dealers? i.e. Audi Manchester, Stockport, Warrington? Any recommends who is best and any particular contact etc?

    Many thanks guys.

Also over here in Germany the difference between the dealerships are huge!

My local Audi dealer, whom I have placed my order with couldn't be a better salesperson. Seriously, one of the best car buying experiences I've ever had!

The local Bmw dealer is rude and don't care about their customers. One reason I stopped going there....another local one the same!

Local Volvo dealer, same as Audi. Fantastic. Quick in responding to emails and calls and are happy to help with any questions we may have. Even the coffee tastes good

How long should it take to sort out a test drive? 24hours to have it scheduled. Having said that when buying my current car this varied from 'how about now?' to complete failure to get back to me.

Heaven only knows how some salespeople / dealers survive. Poor product knowledge, silly pricing and poor service. The problem, at least partially, is that potential customers seem to put up with it without complaint.
