what is it with audi sales staff ....recently seen a car on line i liked based at my local audi dealer so after a long day after a long tiring day at work i drove down in bd weather in rush hour to find the car wasnt at that branch but another a hour and a half away . the salesman wanted me to neiogate the deal /price without me even seeing the car never mind test driving it . when i insisted i wanted to at least see the car his attitude was terrible , very arrogant and dismissive. then today , i ve seen another car i like online so this time phoned the number given , north east audi to check the car is at the local branch as stated , the salesman sais he d check and phone me back to confirm it s at the local branch and ready to be viewed .......he hasnt phoned me back !........is this the way to treat potential customers ? i am thinking of spending £ 24 000 upwards on an audi a6 , i know the colour , the spec , the milage and age i want ....you d think they d be all over me to get a sale but no they dont seem bothered .... has anyone else had similar experiences ? and why do you think this is ?

If you're thinking of spending that amount - Buy new !! There are stunning deals to be had online. You'll get exactly the car you want that way.

I used the dealers to test-drive and in conjunction with this excellent forum, hone my specification. Then just ordered online. So So easy and you are then dealing with a regular Audi showroom albeit by phone, the process couldn't be easier. There really isn't a drawback as far as my experience went.

You'll see from many different threads on here that the experience you get from dealers varies a lot. Remember they are NOT audi employees - they are franchises that sell audi vehicles run and operated by whoever owns the franchise. It's really down to the owner and their staff to set the right customer service experience, without appropriate guidance from the owner / senior management at a franchise you'll get whatever 'experience' the sales person wants to give you and it seems that not all of them understand that people buy from people based on the relationship / interaction that they have.

I'm lucky that my local dealership have a customer service ethos which seems to be set by management so the experience I get is very good - and I keep going back to buy cars and for servicing. If you have to buy from an obnoxious dealership because they happen to have the exact car that you want then you have every reason to be completely hard nosed and demanding regarding how the transaction is carried out - and the level of discount that you want.

I expect I'm wrong, but at that amount you wouldn't get much of a spec new. OP says he has a spec in mind already.

Let's ask, what spec are you looking for in the North East?

The chap who sold me my car (Slough Audi; Sytner) was excellent, knew the product and kept me informed throughout.

However, went into West London Audi (slao Sytner I think) as they had an S6 I might have been interested in. The car was registered in July 2013, I asked the salesman if it is a model year 13 car or model year 14. All he could tell me was that it was registered in 2013. He clearly didn't understand the question even when I tried to explain the concept to him. Seemed unable to find out the answer. Car not there to look at ( I'd dropped in unannounced so no problem there). Discussed price for a bit until I got fed up with the salesman running backwards and forwards to his manager to get 'the best offer' and suggested the manager come and negotiate. This at least produced a meaningful discussion. Got email next day telling me it's MY13 so wasn't interested.

Spec on Audi used car site differed form the spec on West London Audi's site.

    Amateur hour performance.

Same could be said Jaguars, which have a higher pricepoint than Audi, albeit they sell in less numbers.

However my local Jag dealer offers what I consider to be fantastic levels of care, from the greeting when I arrive right through to when I leave.

Only been into three Audi dealers and it's all been very cold and unfriendly

No finance costs 2250 less 1800 (450) more. Take the finance and immediately after collection cancel it, that way you get the better price. I did that as have many others.

Just add £450 to the quoted price at DtD if you don’t want finance, but I think you’re more likely to get a better selection of dealers as they get a hefty bonus for arranging the finance. You can cancel/pay off the finance immediately after taking the car without a penalty.

Also, they do the s line for £24730 or £24860 for the s line ultra so you must really want it in quartz to pay that for a used one
