Hey, new a5 owner up from a3. high mileage user will i get over 200,000 miles?

Hi all

I have just bought an a5 63 plate 2.0 tdie se technik.

I think i will hit over 50k per year as using it for work, mainly motorway and a roads into city centres. had it 4 weeks yesterday and done 6500 miles already.

so my question is

will i be able to run this for 4 years with all the servicing being done on time and sensible driving mainly on cruise control as i am paying my own fuel and it going over 200-250k plus?

If its kept right then yes, it will no problem.

However get the oil changed every 10k miles if you want to reach 200k.

yeh i read the service manual and says main service every 19,000 and oil service was about 9,000.

the car was a pre reg from garage and had 1031 on the clock. now on 7500 so will go in for its first service around the end of the month. my first two services come with the audi finance after that i have to pay in full. is there any tips for getting the best servicing prices? do they really have to be done by audi garage? are they cheaper say through VW or skoda etc as same group?

I expect there might be some interest in your avg. mpg if you are pounding the motorways, especially in the A4 B8 section. The TDI seems to struggle with urban figures but motorway defo helps attain the published numbers. It sound like you'll be the proof then?

Your warranty only last 60k so I would be doing some of my own servicing after that. If you are going to run it for 250k the. It won't have too much impact on the future value. Things like air filter, pollen filter and oil changes are pretty basic and even changing the brakes is straightforward if you know how. Find a good Audi independent near you might be the best way to service the car if you want it done cheaper than a main dealer.
With the mileage you are doing, I would be looking to service it every 6 months with additional oil changes in between-once the warranty was up- as the motorway miles isn't too hard on the car. Otherwise the car will be in for a service 3 times a year.

at first i was driving it like my a3 company car (inclusive of a free fuel card) then when i thought i would check the mpg i soon changed my driving style. .. It is on 8700 now and my avg is 51.4mpg

yep i will be paying for all of it, tyres included. just bought myself a tyre pressure and depth gauge to help with economical driving and also to ensure i stay legal too.

I thought the audi mileage warranty was unlimited for 2 years then it was only the 3rd year that they wouldnt do the warranty if it was over 60k?

future value is irrelevant, will run it until it dies or starts breaking down and costing more than its use. yeh a good local specialist would be good though.... maybe should start learning haha be a lot cheaper for the littler things..

60k over the 3 years, first 2 years are Audi factory and the 3rd yr is Audi UK I think?

Regardless, you have 60k or 3 years of warranty whichever comes first from date of registration.
