Was a happy audi (first car) owner until i had to change/add more oil every 2nd month. Started looking for leaks under the engine, but couldnt find any. Then noticed a wet pool at the back of the car under the exhaust after having the car on idle for some time.
Anyone having an idea of what is causing this leak? Some say it might be the head gasket and some say its not.. Annoying that the oil becomes more expensive than the fuel! -.-

what oil are you using to top it up? only reason i ask i have the 1.8t i used the 5w30 fully syntheti*as recommended)c when i did a oil change on it and noticed excessive oil use even though there were no apparent leaks under the car I have since used 10w40 semi synthetic and the oil usage is now minimal.

I have used 10w40 from the day i bought it, I even had the car on service with oil change etc last month, and it went empty a few days ago.
Its not normal that It leaves a wet pool under the exhaust after a few min on idle..

Is the wet patch oil or water? They can produce quite a lot of condensation form the exhaust, which can condense in the tailpipes and then sprinkle out as water. If you were losing oil into the exhaust, I'd expect it to be smoky.

How much oil are you putting in? You say adding more oil every 2nd month. That doesn't seem excessive to me, depending on how many miles you're doing. What mileage does the car have on it? How much oil are you putting in at what mileage interval?
