    Hi!

Just had someone to look at my 1.8t estate (2000, W reg) as it's for sale. Blow me if the guy didn't floor it and we heard a 'pop' sound from around the gear stick (underneath) and then he couldn't select any gears.

The 'handbrake on' light came on then off again. Had to tow the car to local garage. Not sure when I might get a result from them though...

    Any ideas??

Please don't say it might be the gearbox, I only want a couple of grand for the car so to pay for a gearbox is just not worth it!

    No-one ever brings me flowers!

Well, even though no replies, thought someone might be interested to know that it was the driveshaft - not too expensive, thank goodness.

Had sheared right through, which I believe is quite unusual.

I hope so! He was quite happy with it, until it went! Said he'd ring back in a couple of days to find out the damage (should be fixed by Tuesday so hopefully can get it sold after that)

What else could he say though... "sorry for breaking your car, not really interested in it now!" He was pretty heavy footed on it, so not sure I want my baby to go to him anyway! Want someone who'll look after her.

    Thanks for showing interest!!!!!!!!
