Can anyone tell me if the ignition switch on a a4 b8 model is easy to change?
my key falls out after it's started and shows a fault on the dash because of this.
will it need programming to my car?

    Hi,

The ignition switch is a fairly simple replacement.

You will need to remove the surround for the MMI screen (this just pulls off). Then you will need to remove the OS lower dash trim. Once this is removed there is a 8mm bolt for the surround of the ignition switch, when that is removed there is another bolt for the ignition switch itself and it will then push out and can be removed from underneath.

When you have your new switch the clip which the bolt screws into on it is on the wrong side so you will need to change that to the opposite side and re-fit everything in reverse order.

No the switch is not coded, it will work as soon as you pop your key in.
