Am thinking about 'upgrading' my 2001 2.5 TDi, 130K miles to a 2.7 TDi around 2006/50K miles. Are there any particular areas I should watch out for on this car and/or engine? It would be a manual.

Good point, although not many 3.0s for sale.

A6_Chris: anything more specific? Seem to be quite a few issues with the 2.5TDi C5 too - quite a few of which I have fixed!

Autotrader disagrees with 208 x 2.7 and 201 x 3.0, so about the same, although only 12 manuals..since most seem to prefer the comfort factor of an auto box on a barge of this size.

Go for an 07 onwards as I read prior to purchase that these have many of the issues resolved (injectors etc) , also road tax is considerably lower. Comparing a 2.7 and 3.0 quattro tiptronic the 10% smaller CC equates to a 20% reduced 0-62 and in the manual 15%

Search the forum as many previous comparison comments made for potential buyers in the past

I bought a 2006 C6 A6 Avant 2.7 TDI SLine, manual box with 70k approx 6 months ago.....verynice car to drive, doesn't feel like a barge with the S Line suspension & is very good on the motorway. Seems to be performing well, not very economical around town but is good on long runs.

I'd personally go for as high spec as possible & as the lower spec versionsare sleep inducing if you ask me. I've got the MMI high unit, CD changer, Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Rear LED's, Xenon's & elec seats.

Still regret not getting an Impreza turbo 5 door though, unfortunately couldn't squeeze everybody in.

If you're close to West Yorkshire & your interested, take a look at my motor?

Maybe the Impreza dream will live on
