    Thanks Chris

On the fuel filter change my guy used something like these on the pipes before disconnection:

Professional 3pc Flexible Hands Free Hose / Pipe Clamp Plier Set Brake Radiator | eBay

That way fuel loss and priming is minimised.

Also the old filter will hold a lot (maybe over half a liter) of fuel, if draining the fuel out of the old one to refill the new, ensure you filter it first...I used a paper coffee machine filter for this and was surprised at the gunk it caught...even from the supposedly 'clean' side.

Car started right up within 3 seconds that way and he didn't have to re-enter the cabin or get diesel digits over the interior/a laptop which you would using VCDS.

So have you been seduced by the DIY side now Chris?

Could've used those but didn't have any Only a dibble came out of the pipes although wearing gloves would've stopped my hands getting covered.

VCDS was the easiest way by sure and I did wash my hands in cold water before touching the interior

My warranty T&C's mean Audi only need to see the car once a year so they'll see it at MOT time and the rest will be DIY and Specialist from now on. Wasn't too difficult!!

I prefer to order aftermarket parts from ebay, sometimes a quarter of the OEM price and simply change them more often, so have spares of all of those below:

    Fuel filter £17.78 - every 2yrs
    Air filter £5.00 - every 6k miles
    Oil filer £3.50 - every 6k miles

    All inc VAT and delivery

Cabin filter wise I prefer OEM charcoal as (purely based on weight) they seem better made....that said I still have the pair Chris sold me last year to fit

Never thought to buy filters etc through ebay, generally spoilt for choice for motor factors in Notts, when supplied wrong, easy to get changed !! (Air filter supplied wrong & only one cabin filter issued instead of 2)
Old cabin filters that came out looked to be exactly the same as new ones that I fitted, car has FSH from audi Leics. So presumably genuine ones that came out ??
Only went to GSF as used to use them when I had Saab's a few yrs ago.
Pretty straightforward to work on aside from the pain of filling the fuel filter through a tiny inlet hole !!

I thought so too. then an expert on such things told me about a thing called a funnel, my life was transformed!

With the aftermarket air and fuel filters they weighed the same as the OEM ones and in the case of the £5 air filter my Indy said he couldn't tell the difference re materials used/number of pleats. He actually said "I'm glad you're using a good quality filter as there's a lot of rubbish out there". Needless to say his jaw dropped when I said it cost £5

TPS are only as good as the person on the counter is on the day, unless you have an account with them.

Your best bet is to get a printed quote from the dealer and then go to TPS as they seem more willing to give you a discount that will match the dealer or beat them.

If you are a Registered Taxi driver you can get an account easy, the the rest of us can't without trade premises as they are not allowed to deliver to residential addresses.
