    Hi All,
Collected our new A6 S-line yesterday and got the VIP treatment from the dealer (no goodies though). After thoroughly inspecting the car and having everything well explained by the salesman we drove away happy. A few miles up the road I thought I heard a rear end knock as I drove over a slightly bumpy section of road but wasn't sure. Then I heard it again and then again. Sounded like something loose in the boot or the exhaust knocking the underside of the car. Got home and checked that the spare wheel was secure and just in case I padded out the jack. As expected we have been out and about in the car again today and there is still definitely a noticeable rear end knock when I drive over a repair in the road or a bumpy section. I will of course be on the phone to the dealer tomorrow but just wondered if anyone else has experienced this or could offer an explanation.

I also have a slight intermittent vibration coming from the drivers door or the door pillar.

Apart from that the car is superb.

    Thanks,

    Janner

Immediate thought is whether they have removed all the chocks from the suspension, also check the tyre pressures as these are set very high during shipping and sometimes they forget to set them to the correct pressure. On my previous A6 3 out 4 tyres were Ok and the fourth was at 50psi

Poor pdi, It's the yellow bumpstop not been reseated into the damper shroud after removing transport chocks. Common problem. Can result in damage to suspension if you're unlucky. Kick up a fuss.

    Over to you Mr Wuffles!

I had this. It was some shielding under the rear suspension that was loose. It sounds like the jack is loose in the boot.
My local dealer fixed it for me.

Whippy53 you were right. The problem was the incorrect (or not at all) re-seating of the yellow bump stops into the damper shroud.

At the dealers I made sure I was in attendance from the moment our car was lifted on the car ramp and it was clear that the bump stops were loose, free to slide up and down the damper shaft and not seated in the damper shroud. Master technician re-seated the bump stops and has assured me that there is no damage to the suspension. I have requested that the matter is logged and that I have something in writing noting the incident and the remedial work carried out. The dealership have been very apologetic, offered a goodwill gesture and we have agreed on an Audi S-Line fleece for myself and my wife. No knocks noticed on the way home so hopefully we can now enjoy our new car.

Still happening...had a brand new a4 190 ultra delivered and emptied the entire boot before I came across your thread, needless to say it's booked in.

Same here, got my new A6 272 on Wednesday, heard some knocks on Thursday and had the whole boot out one bit at a time to try and eliminate it...then read a similar thread on here, inspected and took photos of the stop out of its housing, booked into dealer on Monday at 7.30am (not the supplying dealer as i didn't get it locally due to price....).

The bizarre thing is, I couldn't hear the knock on Sunday, looked and the yellow thingy was back in its housing. Went to the dealer, they confirmed all ok now and made sure it was as far in as it could go so will keep an eye on it.

Just seems a very annoying thing that probably could be permanently fixed relatively easily to happen on a £50k car, its not what you expect really....
