"Alloy Gators" ; that's worth a google search. Need to search out a sympathetic tyre changing outlet when my time comes. Also: think I will defo select a tyre make /manufacturer with 'rim protection' lip. If you know what I mean.

Indeed, the last time they saved a wheel was when I as forced into the kerb by a van that was rounding a corner in a lane way too fast to stop(a week ago) No one who didn't want a crash would have avoided that kerbing.

Or when an approaching car is overtaking parked cars, leaving a 2 foot gap and forcing you into the kerb or you risk contact.

You can be the best driver/parker in the world but accidents happen.

I ve been fine for a year . Not a single mark. But in the last 6 weeks I Kerbed every one of them, some of 2 of them twice quite badly. Had new tyres few weeks ago and they scratched the inside trying to take of the balancing weights. Given up caring about them now. Will do repair them when I come to sell it may be.

I was looking at an A4 in town with Alloy Gators on it, it looked OK but they are very obvious and I didn't like them on the car. I think the BE 20's are a problem to fix if they get dinked and my experience on 20's was that they seemed to be very vulnerable even if you are careful. The 19" 7 spokes on my Avant are (for me) a good compromise in terms of filling the wheel arches, ride, and having that little extra rubber between car and kerb.
