Retroffited 3G Plus in my 2010 Q7. The 5F unit has the SIM slot to allow for data and Audi Connect services. But i pair my iPhone 5 (no problems) and the MMI takes my contacts from the phone and stores them in the MMI...Great i think. But here is the problem i have discovered.

The internal SIM in the 5F ("3" network) takes completley over from the iphone and any calls you make must go through the "3" sim and not via my iPhone (handsfree). The only way you can make and receive calls by the handsfree option is to remove the SIM in the 5F unit !

I have read that the latest Audi Firmware does this as standard which is stupid and not practical. Apparently the only way to make that work is to load US firmware in but it will make the radio difficult to tune stations......

Can anyone else who has a the 5F with SIM and an iPhone confirm that its not just me?

The only fix for the above is to buy a phone that has rSAP and internet thethering. Very unhappy

It might not be the same thing, but in my A6 you can set which 'phone' (hands-free or in-dash SIM) to use for outgoing calls in the MMI. It was an option under the telphone settings; I can't remember where exactly but it was fairly obvious.

It's the top option when you select Settings under Telephone.

Cheers Neil, the problem was there was an option within the hidden menu that wasnt ticked.

NAD operation needs to be enabled to allow either the Cell or the car to make calls
