Car has started making a slight knocking noise from the rear end. Only noticable below 40ish and the noise is speed related in that the slower I go the slower the knock. Sounds like when a front cv is worm when on full lock. Noise isn't affected by loading on bends or throttle
.Mileage is on 79k I can't raise all the wheels to spin them to identify.
    Whats the likely culprit?
    Prop bearing
    Prop cv

    Hi.
Could be prop or drive shaft cv.

Silly but check nothing wedged underneath in the metalwork rubbing on a shaft.

Had a quick look underneath this afternoon and couldn't see anything obvious rubbing, no scrape marks anywhere either.

    Hi
    Just an outside chance.

Past experience not with Audi, more likely to be a driveshaft cv.

Jack it up and wiggle the wheel, or take it to an MOT station

How long ago did they fit pads? The technicians name is usually on the invoice, good job the top bolt didn't come out as well... go back and complain you may get a complimentary service or something...

Scared as to what would of happened if had to emergency stop on a motorway with my boy in the car.

    HELP.
    next problem.
Got a new bolt, realigned caliper. This needed gentle persuasion as pads tightish on disc, put bolt in and now getting parking brake warning and wheel locked solid. Pressumably this means electronic parking brake needs releasing. can it be done without vagcom?

Ignore last reply as I fixed it. Sort of.
Well in a way bodged it until I drive it to a garage.
Took the caliper off and the inside brake pad was worn at an angle due to the caliper hanging off. Removed the pad and levelled it off in a vice with an angle grinder! dust mask on and holding breath.

Fitted it back into caliper and refitted everything. This time there was enough clearance for the piston to slide in easier.
Started car and applied park brake on and off couple of times and warning has gone, working perfectly also. Now just need to buy new discs and pads all round and get someone with vagcom to release park brake.
