HELP! door locked fast.

Drivers side rear door failed MOT due to not opening from inside or outside. Can anyone tell me whether the pair of exposed wires on the lock mechanism actuator feed to the spring loaded motor release rod?. working in a very confined space I managed to solder wires onto them and fed 12 volts to them to get the lock to activate. sadly this hasnt worked so i am going to be forced to smash up the actuator casing to reach the cog wheel to actuate by hand. has anyone else come across this nightmare ?. Engine code is AVF if that makes any difference.

Have you tried bashing the inside card as the central locking is activated?
