Hi , missus rang me this mornin saying the low oil pressure light was on . She stopped the car straight away and checked the oil level which was ok. Started the car back up and drove 60 miles to work no problem.started the car at dinner time and no warning sign until she started accelerating when it came on again an went back out. I popped there and fitted a new pressure switch but doesn't see to have fixed it . Any ideas , is it the start of oil pump failure or is there any point in changing the sensor on the sump?

Hi, thanks for the reply it's a 2005 blb , she's done 198k now , there's no abnormal engine noise , no loss of power or smoke . Oil levels fine , would it be worth using an engine flush incase the strainer/ pick up is partially blocked

i would put blb in the search box and see what comes up. i would presume yours has already been modified though.
what i definitely wouldn't do though is put a flush through it, just in case. i would be getting the sump off pronto before going anywhere in it.

Do not drive this car until you have the oil pump sorted. This is a big job but you will need the sump off and oil pump off to look at any damage.
It sounds like your engine should be OK though.
If you drive it any more with dodgy oil pressure you risk the turbo going and engine trouble.

Hi all , it was the oil pump gear and drive chain . Thankfully not as expensive a job as it could have been , sounds like the chain was slipping as the revs increased just don't understand why we never heard anything at all .
