I know it's not good to start with an apology but after an extensive search of the archives I realise alots been said on this before!

However, I've just moved abroad and don't have the luxury of a local friendly garage (or even an unfriendly one that speaks english!) to run a diagnostic on the ECU and I'm far from an expert myself hence the plea!

I've a 99 Golf Tdi 110hp with 70k on the clock, and I've recently noticed (and others too with same engine VAG cars) that it feels very underpowerd on the motorway and there's no discernible evidence of the turbo working. Other than seeming incredibly slow though there is no other evidence of anything being wrong. MPG is still pretty good, approaching 55 on a motorway run, it runs smooth, there's no smoke and sounds normal, it's just so slow!

From what I've read it seems it could be a MAF failure limiting fuel at higher speeds (which could explain the good fuel efficiency and low power) but it could also be the solenoid which controls the Exhaust Gas recuirculation valve.

Before I start changing components (I've looked for leaks as it has had a new clutch and camblet recently so things have been pulled about) any advice?

    Thanks very much

Disconnect the air mass and see if the power increases as you have no vag com thats all i can suggest as this will give you an idea of the turbo condition and n75 in one go and if poer increases a bit replace the air mass
vag diagnostics, retrofits and general repairs
