    can anyone tell me if this is an old style button key? Some idiot at a local car parts store tried to argue with me that its for a light? All TDI Mark 4 Golfs originally came with button keys. Especially the GTTDI (Red DI) badged model like mine. It's a 1999 too.

    Cheers is anyone can confirm.

    There are two types of keys that look like that.

    One is just as the idiot (your words not mine) described - a key with a light, the other is a transponder key with a light.

    No that key will not support RCL it's only a light.
    You will be looking for the 2 button round head remote now superseded to the square 2 button folding key type.
