Hi,
We had a couple of documents to sign and return to our Audi dealer regarding registering our new A6 and as it was a nice day last Sunday we thought we would have a trip in that direction and drop the documents through their letterbox. Whilst I was there I couldn’t resist having a look at our car, which is parked in their storage area. All looks fine in terms of door, boot and bonnet gaps being uniform and no damage to any of the panels that I can see.

What does concern me a bit is the panel alignment at the windscreen pillar/wing/door intersection. I have attached a photo to help explain. If a straight edge was placed across the wing and door as indicated by line “A” alignment is good and everything looks fine. If a straight edge was placed across the wing and door as indicated by line “B” there is a mis-alignment and a difference in levels between the wing and the door of about 4mm as shown by the two arrows. The widening gap at the top of the door panel draws the eye to the differing levels. At point “C” the top of the chrome effect trim on the door aligns with the surface of the wing.

Just wondering if this is the same on all A6’s or if there is a problem with our A6 that needs to be taken up with the dealer.

What would be interesting is if some of you chaps could have a look at your A6’s and let me know how it compares. What would be even better would be a photo of your car taken from the same viewpoint. Looking at 90 degrees to the door gap it looks fine it is when you look forward from just behind the door mirror that it is noticeable.

Some photos looking forward from just behind the door mirror would put my mind at rest if they all look the same or if it is just our car like this then it is a trip to the dealer.

Thanks in advance. Janner
