Hi im new here

I have the 2.0 TDI DSG Touran on an 04 plate bought last feb.Came with a good histor. Has been serviced by us and we had the gearbox oil done last summer. Generally had no major problems with it until now.

It judders when pulling away from standing but if you pull away slowly it tends not to do it. Once driving it goes through the gears fine and has plenty of pull and no loss of power in it.

It went to our local garage who couldnt do anything with it so they took it to a gearbox specialist. They tried to do a software reset but half way through the car stopped it from doing it and did so a few times. They have sent there report to the software people to see if they can provide any answers. In the mean time we are told it will likely need a new megatronic unit at a cost of £1200 + vat and fitting (nice)

The car was driveable when it went in but because if the reset failure apparently most of warning lights are now appearing on the dash so im guessing it would be even more unwise

So ive read that many people have had this issue but most of the info ive seen relates to new cars which are in turn covered by warrenty.

I guess i just want to know if the garage are on the right track with their prognosis. Is it a fault just through wear and tear age and mileage?

Any advice welcome. Im gutted im likely to have a repair bil of nearly 2k when i only paid £4100 for it.

Many thanks
Kerry
