I have a problem with service interval display in my Audi A6 2006 with 101000 miles currently on it. I have always used Castrol Edge 5W30 oil which is recommended for my car (Since I bought my car in Sep 2012). I have done the below oil changes and reset the service interval to get these results.

    1. Oil Change and Flush (Nov 2012, 85000 miles). Service interval reset by the Garage. The car automatically calculated after a bit of driving that my next service is due in 4500 miles.

    2. Oil Change and Flush after 4500 miles (Apr 2013). Service interval reset by me using this Vgate Scan VS450 VW Audi Seat Skoda Fault Code Reader Scanner Engine ABS AIR BAG | eBay.
The car now calculated that the next service is due in 7500 miles.

    3. Full Service and Oil Change after around 6000 miles (Aug 2013). Service interval reset by me using Vgate as above. The car now calculated that I need an oil change again in 400 miles. I did a reset again and it says I need an oil change in 2600 miles.

    4. I ignored the service warning and drove for 6000 miles (Jan 2014)and got another oil change. Again did a service interval reset with Vgate. This time it calculated as 2600 miles.

I do the reset from the tool selecting Long Life Oil, Diesel engine. Car shows every time that my next oil change is due in 2 years, but very less miles. There are other options to reset for 10000 or 20000 miles. Is it safe to select 10000 miles and forget about the problem? or is there something wrong with the Car? Also what is the recommended interval for oil changes? My car mostly has highway miles around 1000 a month.

As you are using Vgate tool it probably does not show you the parameters within service reset interval (SRI).

Even for LongLife (LL) SRI has parameters for mileage , etc.

IMO I don't think anything wrong with car it is just the OBD tool you are using, just pick 10K and all should be ok.

View screen shot on this page, you will see parameters that there are, Link:- SRI Reset Procedure - Ross-Tech Wiki

Here is something I sent someone when they were having an issue with SRI using VCDS.

Thanks very much for the info Gupsterg. I will just set it to 10000 and forget about it. Would it be ok to have oil changes at 10000 mile intervals?
