    Hello all
Ive just replaced both track rod ends on my 2001 passat sport estate, i have the use of a track aligning tool just to get me to a place that can do the aligning properly, but in the Haynes book it says the toe angle is +10 +-2, so my simple question is, is +10 toeing in or out.
    Thanks

While this does not answer your direct question, my method is to measure the distance about 1/3 way up rims.
The front wheels should toe out slightly, I give about 1.5mm.
Measurement is achieved by using a length of timber between wheels. This timber has two flat steel pieces with 90 deg bends and swan neck to butt against rim screwed to timber. one of the steel pieces has slots for screws to enable adjustment of steel piece. Once you get the toe in near right you will be able to travel to garage without
    scrubbing tyres.

I now this is a bit late but + toe is toe in and - toe is toe out. The passat should be toe in and +10 means 10 minutes which equals10/60 = 0.16 degrees toe in. This can be transleted into mm toe in as many wheel alignment tools uses mm. the mm is caluculated depending on the size of the wheel, but there is approx 6mm in a degree. So for the passat it will be 1mm toe in. Hope this helps future readers.
