    HI .
Im in need of help please . i have a 57 plate gt sport tdi (BKD) 140 with 54,000 mls. A couple of months ago the emissions warning light came on , I never noticed any difference in the car when the light came on . I took it to my usual garage and after scanning the car they diagnosed a new maf was needed. The maf was replaced and the light stayed off for a few days but then came back on . I went back to my garage and they replaced the maf again thinking it may have been faulty. The light stayed off again for a few days but then returned . I took the car back to the garage and they cleaned all the earth points thinking this may be the cause.
The fault code being stored is PO101 (maf or vaf sensor circuit range/performance problem)
I managed to borrow a hand held diagnostic tool and it recorded the following freeze frame data.
    code -PO101
    load -0%
    coolant temp - 88
    intake map - 99kpa
    engine speed - 1857rpm
    vehicle speed - 97 kph
    maf - 30.61 g/s
    throttle 99.6%

I have been clearing the code with the hand held device but it comes back , sometimes after 30 mins but it has also stayed off for 2 weeks .I have read pages and pages of possible faults and have done some basic checks like dirty air filter , vacuum leaks , ive also had a close look at the maf wiring loom but cant see anything obvious .Im at my wits end if anybody has any input to help i;d appreciate it very much.

Change the MAF for a genuine replacement. Search the forum for P0101 to see other outcomes.

Thanks for for the reply , should have mentioned in my post that both times the maf was replaced it was with a genuine vw part , Bosch I'm sure.

Bosch isn't genuine, get one from VW using your VIN.
