Best Value Data Sims for Internet Access: Ideas anyone?

Ok so I got one in the post and tried to set it up. I put it in my phone to set it up, you have to claim the free data package.
That didn't work so the online chat people said they had a technical glitch at their end and gave my 1GB data to get me going.
In the car the online traffic works ok, Google earth overlay doesn't work but that seems intermittent at best these days.

Here we are in 2025. Still on the data sim issue for my old classic C7. I have not long bought a 3 Network 24gB data sim, but I think I have made an error.. in that the 3 network is switching of its 3G coverage by Nov 25.

If this is correct, what are the best network data sim options for continued 3G network coverage to keep the old Audi 3G MMI internet access functioning?

I didn't think any of them are going to keep the 3G network and given most are owned by the top guys....
I wonder if you would be better off getting a 4g mifi device and have the MMI tethered to it via wifi (would that work?) or even just your phone as a hotspot when you are driving

The MMI in my C7 A6 has a SIM card for mobile phone and data connection. I used it primarily for the data connection and bonded my own mobile for telephone use via Bluetooth.

Need another mobile broadband provider now .. that will continue to support 3G network via a data only sim etc (?)

I am beginning to think tho as you suggest, that the 3G mobile network is a thing of the past.

What are others doing? (If anything?) to get continued use of the online functionality of the 3G MMI if the old Audis.

(It’s not possible to tether the cars system to another mobile device)

All 3G networks are being switched off over the next few months so there will be no option given that all networks regardless of their branding are provided by EE, O2/Virgin Media and Vodafone/3

Unfortunately the mifi option won't work either as Audi configured so you could connect a device to use the car's wifi but not the car to use another device. The only option you would have would be to use an Android phone that allowed you to tether the car to the phone. to do t his the phone needs to support rSAP and in some cases that requires you to "jail break your phone. Apple phones do not support rSAP

Thanks All. So I’m guessing that apart from the android mobile phone method there is no way to get internet access.

Possibly only way to upgrade to one of the black box alternate MMI systems.. the ones that would add Apple CarPlay .. with potential touchscreens and beyond?? Ate there any links to threads on here covering successful systems in this area?
