So I've just got a 2003 A3, and it needed new wiper blades, but when I try to lift the blade, the wiper arm meets the bonnet. "No problem" I think. "I'll lift the bonnet and do it from underneath." That works for the driver's side, but where the passenger side arm is kinked, it impacts on the underside of the bonnet too. "OK, I'll set them to wipe, then turn off the ignition when they're up the screen." Oh, no you don't - they carry on back to the park position. So by a bit of bending and wobbling, the passenger one gets done with the bonnet up too.

So, I'm thinking that can't be the right way to do it. There must be a 'park to change' mode.

Can anyone tell me how to change the wipers properly?

I really need a handbook for this car - it didn't come with one.

Go into the DIS, SET, Wipers, Service mode

If you don't have a DIS, try switching the ignition on, press down on the wiper stalk so it does one sweep, ignition off, then press down on the stalk again.

I don't have a DIS. I'll try the other method. Thanks.
