    Hello all....
I was on the phone to TPS today pricing up some front and rear disks and pads.... on two seperate occasions I was offered Genuine VW parts but also offered an economy option. I enquired what the difference was in these parts and the assistant highlighted that the economy options on some of the VW part are parts that are a different parts number to that which is provided as per the manual. They stated that the economy parts where massed produced after production and fit on to a lot more models, they are also quite a bit cheaper just over 20% cheaper.

Has anybody any knowledge of the two options and what your thoughts are...

    Many thanks in advance.

From what I know TPS will only supply you with parts if you are in the trade, not Joe Public. As you are asking this question I am thinking that you are Jow Public like most of us?

Alot of the aftermarket parts are just as good, Febi, LUK, Sachs etc

I use TPS in Belfast (Mallusk) and don't have a trade account, they just put it through as a cash sale. To be honest the discount's are not that great for Jo public... But i have been fortunate to find out that a friend has a trade account there and just get him to order what i need, the savings are very good at times.

Cheers for the responses. Im not to concerned with TPS trade account and non trade accounts, I have that covered. I am looking to find out more about the difference in the two options available for part. I can but genuine VW parts which were fited to the vehicle originally or there is an economical option, yet they state this is still a genuine VW part, just something pass produced and fits a beiiger selection of vehicles. Anyone got any insight??
