I just bought a Golf without a manual and so I am asking the same question! What is ins 2? And how do I clear the display? I do all my own servicing so this is just annoying!

Ok IN02 Display means it needs an annual service (2 year/20,000 mile) consisting of a variety of things, if you get a haynes manual it tells you exactly what.

Looking at my book it should consist of:

    -Spark plugs
    -Oil
    -Oil Filter
    -Air Filter
    -Pollen Filter

also worth checking replacing the auxilulary drive belts for alternator/water pump and power steering, my PAS drive belt had cracks in it after 2 years.

also the general stuff like brake fluid which should be changed every 2 years and also the coolant in the radiator should be done every 2 years.

then a general inspection of the car to make sure that theres no corrosion on brake lines, mechanically nothing looks like it needs replacement, grease the door hinges and just a general look over the car.

To Reset it: (in the words of the VW handbook for the car)

The Zeroing of a service interval display should be carried out in "total" milage recorder mode. If the service interval display is zeroed in "trip" recorder mode the trip recorder can be erased.

With the ignition off, press and hold the button below the speedometer (left arrow)

Switch off the ignition and release the button. The word OEL can be seen on the display. By breifly pressing the button fir adjusting the analogue clock(right arrow) or the minute button of the digital clock(lower right arrow) will zero the service.

By pressing the button below the speedometer the other services will be displayed and can be cancelled individually.

    Switch on the igntion.

Takes a bit of messing about, you have to reset the IN02, then IN01, then OEL if you carry out an IN02 Service.

    Hope this makes sense
