Audi A6 C6 Driver Heated Seat Issue

Hi everyone

I have an annoying issue with my audi a6 driver heated seat does not work at all, checked error code comes up with 'open circuit' Any ideas?IMG-20140122-WA0012.jpg

If you have VCDS and it's giving you a fault reference you can simply google it.

Appreciate that a heated seat is just an element and has wires running to it, so it's fair to say that there's either a disruption to the power either in the wiring or the seat element itself. Have you had a look under your seat and cleaned the connections as a first port of call?

Yes I shall do that thanks for the obvious tip, I just hope its not the element inside the seat, if it is any ideas on how to repair this.

Iv really had bad luick with heated seats every car iv had the driver side heated seat does not work!!

Probs previous owner has had a fat or a pointy @rse!

The actual heated seat elements are cheap to buy, however I've only had to add them when doing a retrim, so simply asked the trimmer to do so.

The problem I see is getting one that matches the audi 6 settings (well it has that in my case)

You need to explain your problem a little better.

1) Is the passenger side one working fine?
2) Is the light on the button staying on?
3) If yes to 2 then can you move the temp up and down 1-6?

As you'll know you have to look at the lowest cost fixes first, so I'd say those were:

a) Checking and cleaning the contacts
b) identifying the heated seat wires and checking with a voltmeter that current is reaching the seat

If yes to b then it's most likely the element and a rather tricky/expensive job, at that time you'll need to price a replacement from Audi, as a guide there are Audi ones on Ebay but not for the A6, for example this one:

Lights are on
Heater level moves up and down (1-6)
